The Minnesota Timberwolves rallied to defeat the San Antonio Spurs 114-109 on Sunday, tying their second-round playoff series after a pivotal ejection of Victor Wembanyama early in the second quarter of Game 4.

Anthony Edwards powered the Timberwolves with 36 points, including 16 in the final period. Naz Reid contributed 15 points and nine rebounds, while Rudy Gobert posted 11 points and 13 boards. The game turned when Wembanyama, visibly frustrated, elbowed Reid in the neck and was assessed a Flagrant 2 foul, leading to an automatic ejection.
For San Antonio, Dylan Harper and De’Aaron Fox each scored 24 points, and Stephon Castle added 20 to compensate for Wembanyama’s absence. Edwards drilled a 27-foot three-pointer to cut the deficit to 94-91, then shouted to the crowd for energy. He later connected on a catch-and-shoot triple from the wing with 5:12 left, giving Minnesota a 98-97 lead—their first advantage since midway through the third quarter.
Reid followed his own miss with a putback with 40 seconds remaining, stretching the Timberwolves’ lead to seven. Harper answered with a rebound, drew a foul, stole the ball, and hit two free throws to pull the Spurs within three. Ayo Dosunmu sealed the win with two foul shots with 9.8 seconds left, making it a five-point game.
The Target Center crowd erupted as Wembanyama left the floor with Minnesota leading by two, but the Timberwolves never fully capitalized on the opportunity. They committed six turnovers in a 20-point third quarter and trailed by eight early in the fourth after Fox’s three-pointer before rallying.
Game 5 is set for Tuesday in San Antonio. Wembanyama’s status remains uncertain pending league review of the Flagrant 2 foul and automatic ejection he received for the excessive contact on Reid.
