The Russian national football team is set to play three friendly matches against the national teams of Egypt, Burkina Faso, and Trinidad and Tobago. The announcement was made by the press service of the Russian Football Union (RFU).
Russia will first travel to Cairo to take on Egypt on May 28. Then, on June 5, the team will host Burkina Faso in Volgograd, followed by a match against Trinidad and Tobago in Kaliningrad on June 9.
Egypt currently sits at 29th in the FIFA World Rankings. The two sides have met only once in official competition, during the group stage of the 2018 FIFA World Cup, where Russia secured a 3-1 victory.
Burkina Faso occupies the 62nd spot globally, while Trinidad and Tobago ranks 102nd. Neither team has ever faced Russia in an official match. However, Trinidad and Tobago did play against the Soviet Union in 1990 during the Caribbean Cup, losing 2-0 to the Soviet side.
