A tense rivalry erupted after UFC 327, with Paulo Borrachinha voicing frustration over missing out on performance bonuses. The Brazilian accused Josh Hokit of “stealing” his prize money on social media. Hokit fired back by issuing a challenge, escalating the feud.
The hostility spilled beyond screens on Saturday (May 9) at UFC 328, when security had to intervene before the main card even started. Initially, it seemed the two fighters were just talking, but the atmosphere quickly heated up. The heavyweights were separated before any physical altercation broke out.
Earlier, Borrachinha had posted a provocation on X (formerly Twitter), referencing the bonus dispute from UFC 327, where both fighters secured victories.
Translation: “I heard you’re in the arena today. Just remember one rule… Bring my money.”
Josh Hokit is set to compete in the historic UFC White House event, taking place at the U.S. presidential residence. As is customary for high-stakes fights, the UFC has lined up potential replacement fighters. After the show on Saturday, which saw Sean Strickland win the belt, Borrachinha addressed the situation and took another jab at his rival.
Translation: “I’m coming to be a heavyweight backup at the White House and give a ‘golden shower’ to Hokit’s fat body in front of President Trump.”
Borrachinha is coming off a victory over Kopylov at UFC 318.
