Yassine Bounou, the Moroccan goalkeeper for Al-Hilal, stole the spotlight during the Riyadh derby in the Roshn Saudi League, denying Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, captain of Al-Nassr, a sensational goal.
Al-Nassr hosted their rivals Al-Hilal on Tuesday at Al-Awwal Park in the 32nd round of the league. In the 40th minute, Ronaldo nearly scored a stunning goal, unleashing a powerful shot from outside the box that curled toward the far left corner of Bounou’s net.
Just as some thought the ball had found the back of the net, the Moroccan keeper pulled off an incredible save, diving spectacularly and pushing the ball away with his left hand. Bounou’s heroics denied Al-Nassr, who were leading 1-0 at the time, the chance to add a second goal that could have sealed the match. It also kept Ronaldo from scoring his first goal beyond the century mark in the Roshn Saudi League.
