Victor Wembanyama, the San Antonio Spurs star, will face no suspension after elbowing Minnesota Timberwolves forward Naz Reid in the face with 8:39 left in the second quarter of Game 4 on Monday night. The Frenchman was ejected for the incident, which the referees ruled a Flagrant 2 foul after video review.
In addition to the ejection, Wembanyama has been fined $2,000, but according to Shams Charania’s report on X, the NBA has decided not to impose any game suspension. This means he will be available for the crucial Game 5 against the Timberwolves in San Antonio.
The series is tied 2-2 after Minnesota’s win at the Target Center. Wembanyama’s absence would have been a huge blow to the Spurs, especially after they lost on the road. He managed only four points in Game 4—his lowest scoring output in the NBA—but his previous performances, particularly the 39-point, 15-rebound, five-block masterpiece in Game 3, have put him in elite company alongside Shaquille O’Neal, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Hakeem Olajuwon. With him on the court, the Spurs have a much better chance of advancing to the Western Conference Finals.
